Greetings from the Dryland Ecology Lab, Department of Geography, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), and the Pakistan Dryland Knowledge Network (PDKN).
We are pleased to share the concept note of our upcoming webinar being organized in connection with World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2026 and towards UNCCD COP17 on: “Towards UNCCD COP17: Youth and Scholar Perspectives on Mapping Resilient Drylands, Desertification, Rangelands, and Vegetation Dynamics”
The webinar will be held on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026 from 11:00am – 12:00pm (Asia/Karachi) and will focus on youth-led scientific research related to dryland resilience, rangeland sustainability, vegetation dynamics, desertification, and geospatial approaches for ecological monitoring in Pakistan.
The program highlights emerging research using Remote Sensing and GIS technologies for monitoring environmental change, assessing land degradation neutrality, and supporting sustainable dryland management and restoration.
We are sharing the concept note and flyer for wider dissemination through the IYRP platform and related networks to promote awareness and outreach on dryland restoration, climate resilience, and land degradation neutrality. We hope the initiative will contribute to broader scientific engagement and visibility of youth-led research linked with UNCCD COP17 priorities.
