Canadian Rangelands

Canada’s rangelands and grasslands stretch from the high mountains of British Columbia to the sweeping Prairies to the diverse tame pastures and mixed farms of eastern Canada, forming a mosaic of working landscapes that sustain communities, wildlife and the climate. These lands thrive thanks to the stewardship of graziers, ranchers, pastoralists, farmers, Indigenous communities and conservation groups whose knowledge and care keep both native and managed forage systems healthy. Together, they nurture ecosystems that store carbon, protect biodiversity and support resilient food and fibre production, ensuring these vital landscapes continue to flourish for generations to come.

These pages will be turned into a coloring book in collaboration with the Society for Range Management and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026 Global Alliance.
