Rangeland Tree Planting will not Reduce Global Warming

Tree planting on rangelands has minimal potential for additional carbon storage, but it has high potential to reduce numerous existing benefits provided by rangelands. Conservation of existing carbon which is primarily stored in the soil where it less vulnerable to loss may be the best way to combat global warming on rangelands.
