Purpose of the Event:
The gathering will bring pastoralists from across Sivaganga district together to strengthen collective action for pastoral mobility and grazing rights.
The key objectives are to establish taluk-level pastoralists’ associations, strengthen coordination on grazing lands and commons, facilitate legal assistance and awareness, address issues affecting traditional grazing routes and seasonal mobility, and work towards the recognition and protection of pastoral rights.
For pastoral communities, mobility is an essential part of pastoral livelihoods, livestock management and traditional knowledge. The event therefore focuses on strengthening collective action around mobility rights and pastoral rights.
