In her talk, Dr. Ilse speaks about Indian nomads and their animals. She elaborates how this nomadic culture of India is proving to be a model for the rest of the world to follow. A Scientist and a social worker of German origin, she spent 20 years learning from the camel headers of Rajasthan. She is researching and actively promoting ecologically sustainable livestock development as a humane alternative to industrial livestock production. In recognition of her work, she has been awarded the "Nari Shakti Puraskar" and the Rolex award.
