The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market is an independent governance body for the voluntary carbon market. Its purpose is to ensure that the voluntary carbon market accelerates a just transition to 1.5⁰C. It will set and enforce definitive global threshold standards, drawing on the best science and expertise available, so high-quality carbon credits efficiently mobilise finance towards urgent mitigation and climate-resilient development.
The IYRP Working Group on Afforestation has made a public comment to the INVCM on issues around afforestation of natural grasslands for carbon credits (see below in 6 UN languages).
