Veranstaltungen Internationales Jahr 2026 – Bündnis für Weidelandschaften und Hirtentum

"Transhumantes: Suso y Eliseo" wins Best Latin American Feature Documentary al Festival Internacional de Cine en las Montañas in Salento, Colombia! This fantastic film follows the pastoralist lives of Eliseo, an Argentine goat herder, and Suso a Spanish shepherd. Both are transhumant herders and are working to prevent the extinction of their ancestral culture. The two pastoralists come together in Madrid for the Transhumance Festival and show the world how important pastoralism is to maintaining healthy, biodiverse rangeland landscapes.

Esta fantástica película narra la vida de Eliseo, un cabrero argentino, y Suso, un pastor español. Ambos son pastores trashumantes y trabajan para evitar la extinción de su cultura ancestral. Los dos pastores se reúnen en Madrid para el Festival de la Trashumancia y le muestran al mundo lo importante que es el pastoreo para mantener paisajes de pastizales saludables y con biodiversidad.

Agrecol Association´s meeting on 18-20 Sept in Göttingen, Germany, focuses on pastoralism in this IYRP2026. We look at diverse realities of herding communities worldwide and discuss how mobility, local knowledge and innovation contribute to resilience in changing environments. We also explore local examples of grazing systems, connecting global discussions with practical realities on the ground in Germany.
